Friends of Newnham School (FON) continues to be a group of parents who organise events and raise funds for the school. We work closely with our very supportive Headteacher, Mr Sol Johnson, to fulfil his requests for money to pay for, or supplement the cost of items and trips.
We have a committee made up of eight people, a Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary, (currently Hayley Kellet, Jemma Davis and Kirsty Mundy), together with five key members. These are currently Claire Clarke, Nina Lambeth, Jo Burrows, Claire Glover and Hollie Gardner. Committee members are decided on at the FoNS AGM, held each September.
We also have a larger group of parents who help as and when they can. Every parent of a child at the school is invited to the meetings, as are staff and friends. All are very welcome. We meet as required either straight from school in one of the classrooms or at Maria’s Kitchen by kind invitation of David and Maria. Much of our communication is done on the two Whatsapp groups to aid swift communication and ascertain views quickly.
Like all fundraising groups, it has been difficult for FoNS to organise events in recent years, but we have continued to do what we can to enrich school life and donate the funds we have.
Going forward we have a few events planned towards the end of 2024, including Wreath Making and Christmas Fair.
With funds raised from events this year we are looking into replacing the school shed and the wooden pirate ship to make these safer and more accessible for all children.

Newnham is a small village located in the county of Northamptonshire, just south of Daventry, situated on the banks of the River Nene and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The village name is thought to derive from Anglo Saxon meaning, however it could also mean 'At the new homestead/village' or 'at the new hemmed-in land'.
