Newnham History Society
Membership costs £6 per year.
The society was created in 2022 to:
- promote, develop and foster an interest in and appreciation of the history of Newnham and the surrounding area for the benefit of all who have lived or worked in Newnham, or will do so, or who otherwise have a general interest in Newnham and its history
- promote the preservation, security and accessibility of archival material.
The Society holds at least four events a year. Speakers provide interesting and entertaining talks on local history, we organise outings to local historical sites and we hold our own fun events with a historical theme, Our members receive four newsletters a year with articles and stories about the history of Newnham. We are a social group and welcome new members whether from Newnham or beyond who have an interest in local history.
The Society is collecting originals or copies of photographs and documents relating to the history of Newnham which, of course, includes what happened yesterday, to create an Archive accessible to everyone. If you have photos or documents you think should be preserved for future generations please contact the society.

History Society AGM and Christmas Social
15th December at 7pm in the Village Hall
Join us for the Annual General Meeting of the Newnham History Society – a chance to hear what we've achieved over the past year and to help shape the future of our society. The meeting will be kept as short as practical and then we can enjoy our usual festive fun and games.
What to Expect:
- A brief summary of the year’s highlights and finances
- Plans for future events, the history trail and archiving
- Election of committee members
- An open forum for questions and suggestions
Light refreshments and nibbles will be provided.
